Sentence - Imprisonment - Length of sentence - Possessing false identity document - Defendant using false passport to obtain work - Defendant sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment - Whether use of false passport to obtain work to be treated less severely than use of false passport to obtain entry into UK - Whether sentence manifestly excessive.
Sentence Imprisonment. Court of Appeal, Criminal Division: A sentence of 12 months' imprisonment imposed for possession of a false identity documents with intent would be reduced to six months in circumstances where false documents were used merely to obtain work and not to gain entry to the United Kingdom.
