The Case
Sentence Custodial sentence. Where the defendant had been sentenced to detention for public protection having been convicted of an offence of robbery and an offence of attempted robbery in circumstances where he had a number of previous convictions including one for an offence of attempted robbery, the court held that the judge had been entitled to impose the sentence for public protection. Accordingly, the defendant's appeal against sentence was dismissed.
