Sentence - Imprisonment - Length of sentence - Causing grievous bodily harm with intent - Defendant assaulting victim in course of a fight - Whether sentence manifestly excessive.
Sentence Imprisonment. In the instant case, where the defendant had pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, having assaulted a man during a fight, the judge had taken too high a starting point in sentencing him to five years' imprisonment. A sentence of four years' imprisonment would be substituted.
