The Case
Sentence Mandatory life sentence. Where the offender had been found guilty of a murder which the trial judge had described as having been 'about as vile a case as one is likely to encounter', a minimum term of 20 years, less the period of 17 months for time spent in custody on remand, was set on a review under to the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
