The Case
Sentence Mandatory life sentence. Where the offender had killed the victim following a savage, provoked and prolonged attack, which, further, had not been premeditated, a minimum term of 14 years, less the period of 9 months and 6 days for time that he had spent in custody on remand, was set on a review pursuant to to the Criminal Justice Act 2003.
