The Case
Where the defendant had acquired a total of 8,197, by obtaining cash deposits from individuals, many of which had been between the ages of 60 to 85, and where he had pleaded guilty to 22 offences of fraud by false representation, contrary to of the Fraud Act 2006, a sentence of 4 years and 6 months' imprisonment had been manifestly excessive. The proper sentence, which could be justified for the offences, was one of 3 years and 9 months' imprisonment.
