The Case
In the instant case, where the offender had pleaded guilty to murder in circumstances where he and his co-defendant had robbed the victim and subjected him to a series of assault, the minimum term to be served before he could be considered for early release was 14 years' imprisonment, less the 175 days he had spent in custody whilst on remand.
