Sentence - Imprisonment - Length of sentence - Possession of Class A drug with intent to supply - Whether sentence manifestly excessive.
The Case
Sentence Imprisonment. The defendant's sentence for five years' imprisonment for possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply was reduced to three-and-a-half years' imprisonment on the basis of the well established principle that if an offender was caught 'red-handed' that was not a reason for giving him a lower discount for a plea of guilty than that to which he would have otherwise been entitled.
