The Case
Where the defendant who had no previous convictions, had pleaded guilty to, inter alia, the murder of his own baby, the imposition of a whole life order was not warranted, and was substituted with a minimum term of 30 years' imprisonment, despite the fact that he had for a number of weeks prior to the killing, meted out physical and sexual abuse of the most vile and grave kind upon her.
