Catchwords
Sentencing - Conspiracy to supply a class A drug - Custodial sentence - Defendant pleading guilty and receiving 12 years' imprisonment - Whether duration of custodial sentence manifestly excessive
The Case
Exclude from Alerts. Sentencing - Conspiracy to supply a class A drug. The judge had not failed to take account of the defendant's basis of plea nor the difference between his role and that of the architect of the offending scheme (the importation of cocaine concealed in fibreboard used in doors). Accordingly the sentence of 12 years' imprisonment, passed in respect of a guilty plea to a charge of conspiracy to supply a class A drug, would stand.
