Catchwords
Sentence - Unlawful wounding - Custodial sentence - Defendant being sentenced to nine months' imprisonment - Whether duration of custodial sentence manifestly excessive.
The Case
Sentence Unlawful wounding. In light of the extent of the injuries inflicted on the victim when the defendant recklessly pushed her glass into her face, causing the victim a significant injury that required 26 stitches, it could not be said that the sentence of nine months' imprisonment was either wrong in principle or manifestly excessive.
