The Case
Sentence Conspiracy to supply a class A drug. A sentence of four years' detention in a young offender institution following a late plea of guilty to a charge of conspiracy to supply a class A drug (some 7kg of heroin with a street value of 1m) was not disturbed on an Attorney-General's reference. Although it was a low sentence, the judge had properly had regard to the significant personal mitigation.
