The Case
A sentence of nine years for a defendant who had pleaded guilty to importing 3kg of cocaine of 100% purity was reduced to eight years, where the Full Court, differently constituted, had indicated that it would be minded to reduce the sentence, when it granted leave to appeal. It would be wrong not to reduce the sentence, given that indication.
