Sentencing - Murder - Mandatory life sentence - Appropriate minimum starting point.
In the circumstances of the instant case, the judge had erred in reaching a minimum starting point of 14years for a minimum term of a life sentence for murder. The appropriate starting point was that of 12years, and that would be reduced further to allow for mitigation and time spent on remand.
