The Case
A minimum term of 18 years was set in respect of an offender who had murdered a vulnerable victim where there was evidence of sadism, gratuitous violence, or sexual maltreatment, humiliation or degradation before the killing. There was also no evidence of anything which could be described as a mitigating factor.
