Sentencing - Assault occasioning actual bodily harm - Custodial sentence - Duration of sentence not manifestly excessive - Consecutive sentences not wrong in principle.

The Case

A total sentence of four years' imprisonment, made up of three consecutive sentences of 16 months' imprisonment for each count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, had not been manifestly excessive. The case had been one of serious domestic violence, and as there had been three entirely separate incidents, the judge had been right to impose consecutive sentences.
