The Case
A sentence of four years' imprisonment was manifestly excessive where the defendant had pleaded guilty to an offence of incitement to pervert the course of justice committed in circumstances where he made a telephone call from prison to his girlfriend, who did not act on the instruction, to visit with others the home of a complainant, in respect of whom the defendant faced certain charges, and make threats.
