Sentencing - Harassment - Custodial sentence - Duration of sentence manifestly excessive - , s 4.
The Case
Where the defendant was sentenced, inter alia, to one year's imprisonment for an offence of harassment contrary to s4 of the having regard to relevant authorities, the circumstances of the instant case were of a sort where a custodial sentence in the nature of a short sharp shock was appropriate. The sentence of one year's imprisonment was, accordingly, quashed and substituted with a sentence of six months' imprisonment.
