The Case

A sentence of 18 months' imprisonment for conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice was reduced on appeal to nine months', and a sentence of seven years' imprisonment for causing death by dangerous driving was reduced on appeal to six years'; both arose out of the same incident in which a woman died following reckless driving by the second defendant, and both defendants pleaded guilty.
