The Case
In the circumstances, there was nothing to suggest that the solicitor's disciplinary tribunal had had regard to a statement of made by an appellant when imposing a penalty upon him, since had it concluded that he had made a false statement likely to incriminate another solicitor, it was likely that he would have been struck off rather than simply suspended for six months.
