The Case
Identical sentences imposed on two defendants of five years' imprisonment for three counts of burglary and an additional offence under s41 of the of being carried in a vehicle taken without consent were reduced on appeal to four years' imprisonment, on the grounds of the defendants' age and the fact that it would be the first time either had served a long sentence.
