The Case
A total sentence of 36 months' imprisonment imposed upon a defendant who was convicted of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage was considered manifestly excessive on account of time already spent in custody. A total sentence of 21 months' imprisonment was substituted.
