The Case
It was a general principle of law that a worker asserting a right of lien over a chattel was not generally entitled to charge for its storage of that chattel. It followed that on the facts of the instant case where the defendant garage was asserting a lien over the claimant's car in relation to unpaid repair work carried out by it, it had not been entitled to charge the claimant for storing his car.
