For anybody who enjoyed the first series of Silk and has started watching the second series I thought this was an interesting article where we get to hear about the programme from the writer's perspective.

The article talks about a series that was televised 12 years ago called North Square which was about barristers in Leeds, and starred Rupert Penry Jones (Clive from Silk) which apparently is available to watch on 4OD. I know what I'll be doing once revision and exams are over!

I have previously written a number of blogs about Twitter and its interaction with the law and how the law must be dynamic in order to reflect changes in technology.

Since I have often blogged about the role of the internet and micro-blogs such as twitter I felt it important to mention two articles I have read. Both relate to twitter and both relate to possible criminal offences.

  • How to get the most out of pro bono.

I just read a Q+A on the guardian website about getting the most from pro bono work and thought that it might be of use to those of you taking part in CHERAL, StreetLaw, the Legal Advice centre or any other pro bono opportunities that the college offers.
The Q+A can be found in the comments section under the article at http://www.guardian.co.uk/law/2012/feb/02/student-pro-bono-advice.

    Key themes are:
    1) Keep it simple - the client only wants advice that relates to their problem

As an LPC student still hunting for a training contract I found this article particularly interesting. It is something that my LPC colleagues and I have spoken about at length over the past few months due to the looming vac scheme application deadlines.

  • “Kill off health and safety law”

Last week David Cameron stated that his New Year’s resolution was to kill of health and safety law. He followed this by describing health and safety law as a “monster”. The cited article has discussion from various members of the public whose overwhelming feeling appears to be that to kill of health and safety law would, to put it bluntly, kill off people.

  • JUDGE Jules

I have just read an article that gave me an idea of what I could do should I have to wait a couple of years before my quest for a training contract comes to fruition. I could go travelling, find a job as a paralegal or find another job or perhaps become a dance music DJ on BBC Radio1.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/dec/07/judge-jules-radio-1-gilles-p...

Judge jules, the famous dance DJ on Radio1 is due to leave the airwaves and return to his former career plan as a media lawyer whilst continuing to DJ in his spare time. Who knew?!
