What I learned on my vacation scheme...
Posted by brionybragg on the 29th May 2012.
After sending two weeks in London in Easter on a vacation scheme, I thought I’d share some of the tips the trainees at the firm I was working for gave me for success in a work experience placement.
1) Be confident… but don’t be too over confident: The thing is it’s very difficult in these situations. You want to seem interested, you want to seem like you want to get to know people, but you do not want to come across arrogant. There is a very fine line between confidence and arrogance – you just have to be careful not to cross it. I.e. don’t annoy anybody.

Revision Tips
Posted by brionybragg on the 10th May 2012.
As exams are coming up I thought it would be helpful to share some revision tips I found online at the cambridgestudents.org.uk website:
1. Study skills
Where to study
Creating good conditions to study in can help you make the most of the time you spend revising. Here are some suggestions:Find a quiet place to study and make sure you are sitting comfortably
Make sure your desk is well lit
Keep background noise to a minimum
Avoid studying in an area where there will be distractions (like television!)
Have everything you need to do your revision to hand before you start -

LexisNexis Apps + Survey Information
Posted by brionybragg on the 1st March 2012.
The LexisNexis 2012 survey is now live. It will only take around 10 minutes to complete and it would be really helpful if you could take part. LexisNexis is always looking for new ways to update their system to help students with their studies and make life easier, and it could even benefit you after graduation. Nearly the entirety of law firms use LexisNexis, and legal research is one of the most prolific tasks trainees are asked to do. What’s more, you will be entered into a draw to win £1000 of virgin vouchers, and there are 10 runners up prizes of £100.

Bankers bonuses, fair or excessive?
Posted by brionybragg on the 23rd February 2012.
I’m always in two minds when it comes to a discussion of banker’s bonuses. For one, I don’t think anybody should be punished for working incredibly hard to get into such a fantastic position in life. On the contrary, I’m one of those people vehemently against greater taxes for the rich – while a lot of people may have their wealth inherited, if I ever end up in that position, I’ll have worked incredibly hard to get there, and I don’t want to feel guilty about it.
