MAX SAVOIE advises banks, investment firms and other financial institutions on UK and EU financial services regulatory issues, including in respect of: 
•	Investment funds and fund management (AIFMD, UCITS etc.). 
•	Securities and derivatives trading, clearing and settlement (MiFID/MiFID II, EMIR etc.). 
•	Custodial services and the holding of client assets - including through global custody networks. 
•	Payment services (PSD, SEPA Regulation, EPC rules etc.). 
•	Financial promotions and wealth management services. 
•	Regulatory licensing, approvals and reporting – including regarding changes of control under the Acquisitions Directive. 
•	Bank ring-fencing and recovery and resolution planning (UK Banking Reform Bill, Liikanen reforms, draft Recovery and Resolution Directive etc.). 
•	Bank privacy and data protection. 
•	Anti-money laundering and KYC checks. 
Max has advised on a number of multi-jurisdictional regulatory projects for several leading international financial institutions. He also has experience in public policy and regulatory engagement work for financial sector clients and has worked with several international financial services trade associations in discussions with EU and UK policy makers and regulators. Before joining Sidley Austin, he worked for three and a half years at a leading English law firm and for eight months with the UK Shadow Attorney-General.
