Tim Carter

Biography

Tim co-leads a strong restructuring and insolvency practice, advising insolvency practitioners on all aspects of contentious/non-contentious and corporate/personal insolvency matters, advising corporates on a range of restructuring and refinancing solutions, and advising individual directors in relation to their pre-insolvency duties and when faced with any disqualification investigations and/or proceedings.

He also handles commercial litigation matters relating to insolvency, corporate and shareholder/partnership disputes.

Tim is top ranked as a “leading individual” in Chambers UK legal directory, where he is recently described as "very bright, doesn't get flustered by things and is straightforward to deal with." He also won the Insolvency & Restructuring Client Choice Award for the UK in 2016.

He is a member of R3, INSOL and the Insolvency Lawyer’s Association, and has provided expert comment, spoken at seminars and written articles on insolvency law issues, appearing in the press and various journals including The FT, The Independent, The Guardian, City AM, LexisNexis, Insolvency Intelligence, Insolvency Today, R3 Recovery and Accountancy Age.

Tim trained at Stevens & Bolton LLP and qualified into the commercial dispute resolution department in 1997, specialising in insolvency litigation. He became head of the insolvency group from 2007 and a partner from 2010.
