James Burnie


James is an associate in the Eversheds Sutherland financial institutions group specialising in financial services regulation.

He advises on all aspects of EU and UK financial services regulation, with a particular focus on banking and investment business. This includes advice on the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, the Capital Requirements Directive and Regulation, the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive, the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, the UCITS Directive, the Market Abuse Directive and Regulation, and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation. In addition to the application of the above in the UK, James also advises on issues arising under the Retail Distribution Review, issues relating to the protection of client assets and client money and senior management issues.
