Professor Douglas Brodie is a leading employment lawyer and Head of the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Stirling.
Educated at the University of Edinburgh, he went on to spend many years there as Professor of Employment Law and Dean of the School of Law (2007-2011). On leaving he was awarded an Honorary Professorial Fellowship with the university.
As a recognised expert on the law of employment contracts and, in particular, the law relating to implied terms, he is an accomplished author and his research interests include the employment contract, the history of labour law and the law of negligence. He is also a co-author of the Employment Law and Trade Unions and Trade Disputes reissue titles within the Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia.
He is a consultant to Simpson & Marwick and was named ‘Legal Academic of the Year’ at the Law Awards of Scotland 2012.
