Sonja Hainsworth

Sonja is a Senior Associate based in the London office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.  She advises on UK and EU competition, regulatory and trade-related issues, representing clients in these matters in a diverse range of sectors, including financial services, infrastructure,  retail, automotive, telecoms and chemicals sectors. 

In particular, Sonja has extensive experience advising on the full spectrum of EU and UK competition law, including cartel investigations, abuse of dominance, commercial deals and competition compliance. She has acted on competition law cases before the European, UK and other national competition regulators, and on investigations by sector regulators. Indeed, Sonja's practice also has a strong focus on sector regulation, in particular in the infrastructure, utilities and telecoms sectors.

Sonja also provides advice to clients on EU regulatory law, including compliance with product and general regulation in relation to toys, tobacco, cosmetics and medical devices, and in relation to Brexit planning, including scenario and contingency planning.

In addition, Sonja regularly advises clients on the application of EU sanctions, including sanctions relating to Russia/Ukraine, Iran, Libya and Syria, as well as on EU and UK export control rules.
