Richard L. Thomas

From 1980, Richard was articled at and became a senior associate with Clifford Chance (in their London and Amsterdam offices). In 1989 he joined Sinclair Roche & Temperley, where he became a partner and was one of the founders of the firm's Corporate Group. In 1999 he joined Salans as a partner and between 2005 and 2011 was joint head of its Global Corporate Group.

Richard specialises in Corporate Law, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, venture capital, private equity, joint ventures and management buy-outs. His clients include banks, investment companies and commercial companies, publicly-listed and private, as well as serial investors and high net-worth entrepreneurs. His practice covers transactions both in the UK and abroad, particularly in Europe, Russia, the CIS and the USA.

Richard is the author of several legal publications, including Butterworths' "Company Law in Europe" (a summary of the company laws of 37 European jurisdictions) and, together with Hans Warendorf, various English translations of Dutch corporate and business legislation, all published by Kluwer Law International, including "Company and Business Legislation of the Netherlands", published in 2008 and "The Civil Code of the Netherlands", published in 2009.
