Lorna Richardson


Prior to joining the University Lorna was a solicitor for seven years, practising as a commercial litigator, with major Scottish law firms. Lorna is qualified to practice in England and Wales. During her time in practice, Lorna was involved in Scottish, English and multi-jurisdiction court disputes, as well as international commercial arbitrations. 

Lorna has significant experience in providing continuous professional development training to the legal profession. She has designed and delivered bespoke training sessions for major law firms, as well as co-presenting Edinburgh Law School's annual contract law update. Lornaâ??s main areas of research are contract law and leases. Her recent contract research considers interpretation and remedies for breach of contact. Her work is comparative, looking at Scots and English law. In leasing Lornaâ??s particular expertise is in repair, dilapidations and service charge in commercial leases. 

Lorna is a member of the Edinburgh Centre for Commercial Law, which aims to strengthen existing links and foster further links between academia and the wider legal community.
