Biography

Lauren graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2011.  She joined Bowman Gilfillan in January 2012 and served her articles until January 2014, when she was employed as an associate in the corporate department.  Lauren was admitted to the High Court of South Africa as an attorney and notary in 2014.

Lauren practises both competition law and corporate law (mergers and acquisitions).  She is involved in:
  • drafting and reviewing commercial agreements
  • drafting and preparing the necessary founding documentation and company secretarial forms for the registration of companies including memoranda of incorporation for private and public companies;
  • providing advice on the Companies Act, No. 71 of 2008 and Competition Act 89 of 1998;
  • legal research and drafting opinions in relation to various areas of law, but primarily within the ambit of contract law;
  • conducting legal due diligences;
  • drafting submissions to the Competition Commission and in response to investigations by the Competition Commission; and
  • litigation in the Competition Tribunal.

Lauren also practices pro bono work at the domestic violence clinic at Randburg Magistratesâ?? Court and the corporate governance clinic at the offices of ProBono.Org. She is also involved in the firmâ??s knowledge management initiative.
