Rupert Reed QC

Biography

Rupert Reed was appointed QC in 2014, having won â??Chancery Junior of the Yearâ?? at the Chambers Bar Awards and been recognised as one the top 100 junior barristers.

He has a broad commercial and financial disputes practice, with a particular focus on contracts relating to the financing, development and management of property. He also works on wider fraud, banking and shareholder disputes.

His practice in England is primarily in the Commercial Court and Chancery Division of the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Many of his cases in England involve parties from the Middle East and require the application of Arab law.

He also regularly appears before arbitral tribunals and the courts of offshore jurisdictions, in particular the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC). He has particular experience of LCIA, LMAA and DIAC arbitrations and accepts appointments as an arbitrator.

He also takes professional negligence work involving, in particular, lawyers, financial advisors, company directors and property professionals.

His work and reputation in the Commercial and Property fields has been widely recognised in all of the major legal directories.

Fluent in French and with a working knowledge of Arabic, he has significant experience of the French, UAE and other civil legal systems.

He has edited four editions of the Guide to the DIFC Court Rules, and writes on issues of DIFC, Arab and Islamic financial law, having been involved in a number of leading cases in all of these areas. He has also written extensively on English property law.
