Dr Keith Puttick
After graduating from Birmingham University, call to the Bar (Middle Temple), and legal work in London, I was appointed a Senior Lecturer in Law in 1984. Since then most of my lecturing and research has been in the areas of Public Law, Company/Commercial Law and Industrial Law.
Apart from teaching on undergraduate programmes, and LLM and MPhil/PhD supervision, I undertake course development and quality assurance work for the Law professional bodies, namely the Bar Standards Board (BSB) and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) - primarily as a member of Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), CPE/GDL, and LLB validation and revalidation panels.
I am a Professional Skills Course assessor for the SRA (Advocacy and Communications) and a BSB external examiner for the BPTC (responsible for Civil Litigation, Employment Law, Family Law and Conferencing Skills). I have been an external examiner for other universities' LLB, LLM, and CPE/GDL courses since 1988, and was appointed External Examiner and Moderator for Law for the University of Wales in 2012.
I have been a Visiting Lecturer and Fellow at UMIST, University of Manchester (1996-2002), and Visiting Professor at the University of Idaho in 2003. I was promoted to the university's professoriate in 2013.
I have been the Director of the Institute of Industrial Law (IILS), one of the Law School's three research centres, since 1996.
