Lionel Bently is the Herchel Smith Professor of Intellectual Property at Emmanuel College of the University of Cambridge and Director of the Centre of Intellectual Property and Information Law. He was called to the Bar in 2009 and is an Associate Tenant of 11 South Square, Grays Inn.
He graduated in law from the University of Cambridge in 1986, and has been a Lecturer in Law at the University of Keele, a Professor in Law at King's College, as well a Visiting Professor at both the National University of Singapore and Columbia University. Lionel is a Council Member of the Intellectual Property Institute and an Executive Board Member of the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association.
He has acted as a consultant on the Confidence and Informational Privacy volume of Halsbury's Laws of England.
