Matthew Newman


Mathew Newman is a partner at Ogier in Guernsey.  He joined the firm in 2008 from international law firm DLA Piper.  Mathew's practice encompasses commercial and financial litigation, with a special focus on contentious insolvency and restructuring matters, shareholder disputes and disputes involving investment schemes. 

Mathew also has considerable experience in relation to more general commercial disputes involving financial services, regulatory issues, Guernsey trusts and large scale construction matters. Mathew qualified as an English solicitor in 2002 and was called as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey in 2011, where he appears regularly on complex commercial disputes and insolvency and restructuring matters. 

He is a full member of the Insolvency Lawyers' Association, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3), INSOL International.  He is also an overseas member of the Chancery Bar Association and is a qualified commercial mediator accredited by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
