Andrew Bell is a former sheriff with a judicial career spanning a period of 25 years.
Qualifying as a solicitor in 1961, he was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1975 and was appointed Sheriff of South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway sitting at Hamilton in 1979. He became Sheriff of Glasgow and Strathkelvin in 1984 and Sheriff of Lothian and Borders in 1990. In 2004, he took up the role of Coordinator of the Sheriff Court Ordinary Causes Section. He is now retired.
Sheriff Bell is a contributor to the Civil Procedure reissue title within the Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia.
