Ian Murphie

Biography

Ian is a qualified barrister of 19 years call who has specialised in employee reward structures and the taxation of employment related securities for the past 15 years.  
Ian works through his consultancy practice, Share Plan Partners Ltd, in order to deliver design and advisory services relating to UK and international share plans and associated tax advisory and share valuation services.  Ian also provides trust and trustee services through his partners as well as solutions relating to the administration of share plans and the delivery of global payment and fx solutions.  
Ian has previously worked at two top tier accountancy practices as well as headed two separate share plan design and administration consultancies in his career, most recently as a director at MM & K Ltd, a leading independent remuneration agency.  He has also served as director of two separate trustee companies.  As part of that practice he has developed extensive all-round experience in advising companies at all stages of their development, including start ups, established SMEs, companies in the lead up to IPO as well as established quoted and listed companies, both within the UK and abroad.
Ianâ??s specialism is the design, implementation and taxation of executive and all-employee cash and equity backed incentive schemes, including each of HMRCâ??s tax-advantaged plans as well as share plans designed for international roll-out.  Ianâ??s work with companies also includes tax valuations, share plans within buy-in and buy-out structures, tax due diligence enquiries relating to company acquisitions and reorganisations, exit strategies, pre-IPO planning as well as the design and operation of employee trust and hybrid structures.  
Ian is Chairman of ifs ProShareâ??s SME Group Forum, its representative at HMRCâ??s Employment Related Securities and Valuations Forum Group as well as an attendee member of HMRCâ??s Fiscal Valuation Group Forum.  He is also a member of the Employee Share Ownership Centreâ??s International Steering Committee and has been a past contributor to Butterworths Tolley Online Services as well as the All England Law Reports.
