Matthew Morrison


Matthew has a broad commercial chancery practice with a particular emphasis on civil fraud, company and insolvency litigation (especially claims against directors) and offshore and domestic trust litigation. 


Since 2010 Matthew has been instructed as junior counsel for JSC BTA Bank of Kazakhstan in Commercial Court proceedings to recover in excess of US$5bn from its former senior management. This has involved numerous interim proceedings relating to breaches of freezing orders and a receivership order, and applications for ancillary orders requiring disclosure from defendants and third parties in order to identify further wrongdoers and trace assets. 


Matthew is also currently instructed as junior counsel for the independent director defendants in Guernsey proceedings seeking the recovery of in excess of US$1bn arising out of the liquidation of Carlyle Capital Corporation.
