Alice Morgan


Alice Morgan has a wide range of experience acting for debtors, creditors, insolvency practitioners and purchasers of distressed assets, in cross-border and domestic insolvency, corporate reorganization, recovery and turnaround matters.

Recent representative engagements include advising:

  • The Joint Provisional Liquidators of Baha Mar Ltd. in provisional liquidation in the Bahamas. The Baha Mar project is thought to be the Western Hemisphereâ??s largest current resort development.
  • The Joint Provisional Liquidators of Arcapita Investment Holdings Limited in Chapter 11 proceedings in the USA and provisional liquidation in Cayman. Arcapita is a leading global manager of Shariâ??ah-compliant alternative investments.
  • Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Merrill Lynch International as creditor of various distressed companies.

Alice has also assisted with the restructuring of distressed securitizations and other structured finance products, including distressed collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), structured investment vehicles (SIVs) and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). Alice regularly assists with advising on security and insolvency law aspects of commercial and leveraged finance and catastrophe bond transactions.

Alice is noted in the IFLR1000 2016 for Restructuring and Insolvency, with clients describing her as an â??exceptional associate who take[s] the lead on transactions and understand[s] the commercial drivers.â? Most recently, she has been recognized in Financial News's 2016 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Legal Services, as well as Global Restructuring Reviewâ??s 40 Under 40 Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers list.

Volunteer Work

Alice is a mentor for BPP Law Schoolâ??s Access to Practice scheme, which provides an opportunity for students to have access to a professional mentor in a law firm.

Alice was an overnight co-ordinator for the Hackney Winter Night Shelter in 2012 and 2013 and continues to be involved with HWNS.
