James McMillan


James is a Senior Associate in the White Collar and Government Investigations Team at Dentons. He has extensive experience in corporate crime and conducting the criminal defence of health, safety and environmental prosecutions. He has extensive advocacy experience and has successfully defended numerous criminal cases. He has represented police officers being prosecuted and represented clients in a number of public inquiries.

James has particular expertise in criminal cartels, fraud, cybercrime, economic sanctions and corruption.

James is National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) qualified and also presents to major clients on the impact of Health and Safety Executive enforcement policy. He provides advice to clients in relation to investigations by the Competition and Markets Authority, Health and Safety Executive, Economic Crime Unit of Police Scotland, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, the Food Standards Agency and other enforcement agencies. He has acted on behalf of corporates and individuals in connection with alleged fraud, breaches of the Companies Acts and has spent some time in London working on corporate crime matters.

James is an active member of the Fraud Advisory Panel and regularly presents on white collar crime matters throughout the UK. He is also a member of the Fraud Lawyers Association and the Health and Safety Lawyers Association.
