David Marks QC

Biography

David Marks QC specialises in insolvency, both personal and corporate, and in banking law. He is the General Edfitor of Tolleyâ??s Insolvency Law and Practice and joint editor of Rowlatt on Principal and Surety (6th edn). He has also contributed to many leading text books, including Lightman & Moss on the Law of Receivers and Administrators of Company and various chapters in Totty & Moss on Insolvency. He has written many articles on insolvency and banking law topics, including contributing to the major work on the European Insolvency Regulation published by the OUP. He has been instructed in virtually in all the leading insolvencies which have been dealt with by the English courts over the last 20 years or so, acting for office-holders and principal creditors in the liquidations of BCCI, Maxwell, Lehman and MF Global. In particular, he acted for the successful party of the first ever English decision on the European Insolvency Regulation. He is bilingual in French. He is qualified as a US Attorney at the Illinois and US Federal Bars and has also been admitted to the Irish Bar. He sits as a Deputy Registrar in bankruptcy in the High Court in London and also as a Tribunal Judge in the Administrative Appeals Chamber: Upper Tribunal.
