Biography

Roland is a partner in the Trade Mark, Copyright & Media group of Taylor Wessing’s IP team in London. He advises on a wide range of UK and European IP disputes, including litigation and ADR about brand and design copies, comparative advertising, domain names, image rights, IT systems and other technology. Roland is responsible for the UK, CTM and/or international trade mark portfolios for a number of world famous fashion, manufacturing, drinks, financial services and sports-related brands (amongst other sectors). He is regularly advising on clearance and protection strategies, IP enforcement and disputes, sponsorship and other agreements relating to their rights. He also has considerable experience in the field of anti-counterfeiting and customs matters. He is a member of the City of London Law Society's IP Committee and the MARQUES Amicus Curiae committee (authoring the MARQUES submissions for the ECJ in Nokia v HM Customs and CIPA v UKIPO (re IP Translator)). He previously sat on INTA's Anti-Counterfeiting and Enforcement Committee and the UK Anti-Counterfeiting Group’s Public Policy Committee. He is listed in various directories, including Legal 500, Chambers and WTR1000, as one of the leading IP lawyers in London.
