Annabelle Maddison

Biography

Annabelle trained at Bristows LLP, where she advised on a broad range of contentious issues, including those relating to contract, product liability, intellectual property (IP), regulation and fraud. During her time with the firm, Annabelle assisted with the firmâ??s representation of Samsung in the Samsung -v- Apple mobile phone wars, a hard-fought litigation involving 3G telecommunications patent issues and complex procedural issues relating to confidentiality. Annabelle also assisted Doosan Power Systems in its successful claim for trade mark infringement and passing-off against the Babcock International Group.

Annabelleâ??s interest in the Life Sciences sector developed through her work in product life-cycle management. Whilst at Bristows, Annabelle coordinated and managed IP litigation concerning a number of pharmaceutical products, in numerous jurisdictions but gained particular expertise of Middle Eastern and Latin America markets. 

In 2014, Annabelle joined ViiV Healthcare to provide general legal support to teams based at the companyâ??s headquarters in London, before taking an assignment to GlaxoSmithKline to further her transactional experience. During her time supporting GSKâ??s Business Development Transactions Team, Annabelle lead the legal team supporting the divestment of the MaxiNutrition business by GSK. 

Annabelle returned to ViiV Healthcare in 2018, to head up the legal team for its International business, External Affairs and Global Strategy teams. In this role, she is proud to support the companyâ??s efforts to facilitate Access to Antiretroviral Medicines and in particular, the voluntary licensing of patents protecting key assets of the company to generic manufacturers, via the Medicines Patent Pool.
