Ian Kinloch#2498

Ian Kinloch

Before joining Aaron & Partners Ian spent a number of years in local government (including senior positions) on Tyneside and in North Wales. Both in the public sector and more recently in the private sector Ian has had extensive experience of planning work.

Ian has appeared many times at public inquiries particularly in relation to planning and enforcement appeals and certificates of lawfulness. However he firmly believes in seeking to achieve negotiated solutions and in advising clients on how to achieve their objectives wherever possible in agreement with nearby landowners and with the planning authority. Ian also frequently engages in training planning officers and others in inquiry procedure and how to prepare and deliver evidence.

He was formerly a member of the Law Society's Planning and Environmental Law Committee and will be shortly coming to the end of his term as a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute's Membership Panel. Ian is also a contributor to Butterworths Planning Law Service (particularly on Welsh issues). He takes a close interest in the growing differences between planning law in England and that in Wales and he firmly believes that property professionals as well as landowners and developers must be aware of these differences and seek advice at an early stage of any proposal.

When Ian is not commenting on Welsh Planning Law he enjoys languages, reading, horse racing and following Middlesbrough FC.
