Jim is a financial services lawyer with twelve years’ experience in establishing and advising financial services businesses.
Jim’s clients range from new start-up businesses to global asset managers. He advises on a broad range of financial services matters including: structuring and establishment of new asset management businesses; establishment of a variety of investment funds and structured products; and advising on related areas including regulatory issues, trading documentation and down-stream transactions.
Jim’s practice has an international bias having worked extensively on both offshore and on-shore fund structures and routinely liasing with US colleagues to incorporate US securities law as an integral part of his transactional work.
Jim also handles a range of general legal matters for his financial services clients frequently instructing and managing local counsel and experts in other legal fields (contentious and non-contentious) on their behalf.
Jim is a managing associate in SNR Denton's Banking Department. Prior to SNR Denton, Jim was at Dechert LLP (from August 2004 to February 2012) where he spent his last 6 months on secondment to RBS PLC. Previously, Jim was a solicitor at Simmons & Simmons (from 1998 to 2004). Prior to Simmons, from 1996, Jim worked at NatWest Markets negotiating derivatives trading documents.
