Biography

Jody Atkinson specialises in both family law and probate, wills and trust, and so is well placed to advise on all areas of private client law.

Jody is a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP), being the first person to pass all four entrance exams in one sitting. As a TEP, he is able to give trusted legal advice in all matters relating to wills and probate, as well as other trusts disputes (such as family trusts, or those between cohabitees). Jody is also able to give legal advice relating to capital gains, inheritance and other taxes that arise in a private client context.

Jody is an established and popular advocate at the Family Bar on the Western Circuit. Jody is regularly instructed to advise and appear both in divorce cases, and in property disputes between unmarried couples. Jody has a particular expertise in relation to the specialist law around child support (CSA/CMEC) and maintenance. Jody also acts in disputes relating to children, both Private Law (custody/residence) and Public Law (social services child protection).

Jody has long maintained a niche practice in employment law acting for trade unionist clients. This has led to several notable appearances in cases related to trade union disputes and whistle-blowing.
