Tom Flavin

Tom is a pupil barrister at 25 Bedford Row. His practice involves work across all areas of criminal defence, in particular he specialises in fraud, confiscation and enforcement, violence, drugs, public disorder and sexual offence cases. Tom is regularly instructed on serious cases in both the magistrate's and crown courts. He has experience representing young and vulnerable clients. Prior to coming to the bar, Tom worked in a number of paralegal roles including Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP where he worked in a client-facing role at a large investment bank. He then went on to work at Memery Crystal LLP as a member of their tax team, working closely with a number of multinational corporations. Whilst studying as an undergraduate, Tom was asked to represent his University at an international mooting competition. Tom's notable cases include: R v E ' Youth Court robbery trial, involving cross-examination of a 13 year old complainant; successful submission of no case to answer. R v TS ' Youth Court firearms trial ' successful section 78 application to exclude large parts of the crown's evidence, including admissions made by the defendant to officers at the scene, resulting in the crown offering no evidence. R v M ' Successful acquittal in a youth robbery trial, involving cross-examination of two youth witnesses R v Y ' ABE trial, defendant acquitted after trial involving CCTV evidence which captured the incident and live evidence from four prosecution witnesses, including the two complainants who were of good character.
