Simon is a consultant solicitor specialising in alternative financial services, e-commerce and IT. His clients include e-money and payment services providers, as well as P2P lending and crowd-investment platforms. A co-founder of Zopa, the first P2P lending platform, Simon helped launch the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association and chairs the SCL's Media Board. He is the author of "Lipstick on a Pig: Why Bailouts Fail and People Power Will Succeed" (Searching Finance 2012) and the blogs "Pragmatist" and "The Fine Print".

Simon has consulted in-house at and WorldPay; was a co-founder and General Counsel & Company Secretary of Zopa; Legal & Compliance Director for a GE mortgage business; and a Director and General Counsel of Earthport plc, the listed payment services provider. Simon also initiated and co-ordinated e-commerce strategy for DLA in 1997 to 1999; worked in the Reuters legal department in London and New York, and spent the first four years of his career as a barrister in Sydney.
